2017 Capital Campaign Update

As you know, there have been two exciting capital campaigns going on simultaneously, both an extension of the 2014 capital campaign. The MPLS Campus East Addition includes a larger choir rehearsal hall, music rooms, and learning spaces for youth and adults. The West Campus Addition includes education, music, youth, hospitality, administration, and more worship space – all under one roof! Pledge Sunday was May 7, 2017, and we are thankful that gifts and pledge forms continue to come in to the finance department.

As of the deadline for sending this June Mount Olivet Messenger to press, the gifts and pledges still were being counted. It takes extra care and time to ensure that every gift and pledge is entered accurately and with the correct donor designation. More information about the campaign results will be in upcoming Messengers and online. It is not too late to contribute to these important projects.

Gifts of all sizes are needed TO REACH the GOALS! Pledge forms are available at the information desks at both campuses and online. If you have questions, please contact Mari Carlson 612.821.3150 mcarlson@mtolivethomes.org. Thank you for your support!

Summertime Ways to Make a Difference for Mount Olivet

Giving to the ministries of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church is a very thoughtful thing to do and greatly appreciated. As you think about ways to pay your annual general fund pledge and your capital campaign pledge, please consider the many ways to give.
You can give cash, write a check, or use credit cards. You could visit mtolivet.org and make a gift, or use your “My Mount Olivet” app to give on the go.
Another option is to give appreciated assets. Perhaps you have stock that has appreciated in value over the years. You could donate those shares to make a gift. Because Mount Olivet is a nonprofit organization, there can be tax savings.
If you are 70 ½ or older, you may be able to use the Charitable IRA Rollover, which has been permanently reinstated by Congress, to make a gift.

The Key Qualifications Are:
-Only traditional IRAs are eligible for gifting.
-Donors must request a direct transfer of funds from their plan administrator to a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
-Gifts cannot be made to a private foundation or to a donor-advised fund.
-Gifts cannot be used to fund a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust.
-IRA gifts will not be treated as taxable withdrawals.
-If you have not taken your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), this transfer will count towards your RMD for any given year.
-Any individual may directly transfer up to $100,000 to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit in a given calendar year.

Thank you for your love and support of your church and its many ministries, which your generosity makes possible.
