"You all are doing great things with The Way.  [My son] is loving it and simultaneously champing at the bit for confirmation to begin.  Thanks for all of your great work, positive energy, and love for Jesus and these kids!" - parent of a 5th grader

Believing, Belonging, Becoming...
Mount Olivet establishes a dynamic partnership with families in the Christian education and faith development of their children.  Instead of traditional Sunday Church School classes, 5th and 6th graders participate in The Way, a pre-Confirmation program on Sunday mornings. This is an exciting program for young people as they transition from Sunday Church School into Confirmation on their faith journey.

Students in 5th and 6th grades are invited to enhance their faith through educational, service, and fellowship activities. Students experience the importance of Christian friendships and faith for life. We focus on Jesus' call to serve others.

While the students learn about the Bible, Martin Luther, and other typical Sunday School lessons, the program has several differences, including:

  • A unique format on Sunday mornings with large and small groups to build friendships and get to know one another.
  • We have our own events:
    • Fifth graders will participate in a Bible Presentation with their parents on Sunday, October 9 or on Reformation Sunday, October 30
    • Sixth graders participate in Holy Communion on Sunday, April 30, 2017, to mark the beginning  of their Confirmation journey.  Details will be emailed from our Confirmation coordinators in the Spring:
      MPLS Angie St. Dennis 612.767.2244
      WEST Zach Spirov 952.767.1583
    • Social and service events during the yePhoto at Feed My Starving Children volunteer!  We will announce these events during class and via email.  Past events include bowling, volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, and a fun evening at GrandSlam.  See the calendar below for upcoming events and to register. Members, visitors, and friends are all welcome to attend these events and  Sunday morning classes.

Special Needs
For families with children with special needs, we offer Sunday Morning Friends at 11am at our Minneapolis campus. Dedicated individuals and professionals in the field volunteer on Sunday mornings to provide children with a loving and flexible Sunday School experience. Alternatively, if parents would rather have their child paired with an assistant in a typical classroom, we are happy to find a partner for your child.  Please contact Amber (MPLS) or Tasha (WEST) to start planning a successful and meaningful learning path for your child.
