Sunday School Registration

Choir Sunday School Registration

We have made some programming changes to The Way this summer that we want you to be aware of.

First of all, we are expanding The Way to include 4th graders. This comes as we have collaborated with the music department and want to be consistent with the age groupings.

Second, class names have changed – the current Sunday morning offerings are below:

Sunday Morning Classes:
9:00: 4th -6th Grade Chapel Sunday School – an integrated music (Chapel Choir) and Sunday School class.
10:00: 4th – 6th Grade Sunday School – while we will continue to have small groups divided by age as much as possible, large group presentations will include 4th graders.
11:00: 4th – 6th Grade Sunday School – while we will continue to have small groups divided by age – this is most likely going to be a 4th – 6th-grade class based on attendance patterns we’ve seen the past few years.

Third - with safety in mind for all of the students in 4th – 6th grade, we will be moving 4th, 5th and 6th-grade classes to the main church building. This will be a convenience for the many families that have children in multiple grades, and gives us a chance to utilize the renovated East Addition of the church. Classrooms are not assigned until we have the bulk of registrants (mid-late August) – more information to come with those specifics.

Finally, there will be more information to come about the worship schedule this year, including a move to a narrative lectionary called “Entering the Story.” This first year, the congregation will dive into the stories of Genesis and the Gospel of Luke. We’re excited that our entire Sunday School program—from preschool to 6th grade—will engage the same Bible stories in Sunday School as the rest of the congregation. We’ll enter the story of our common faith together as an entire community!

Fifth graders will participate in a Bible Presentation with their parents on Sunday, September 23.
Whether enrolled in Sunday School or not, all 4th and5th Graders are invited to participate in this important step in their faith journey. This is a special moment in the life of your family because placing the Bible in your child’s hand symbolizes the ownership your child is taking in his/her faith.

Special Needs
For families with children with special needs, we offer Sunday Morning Friends at 11am at our Minneapolis campus. Dedicated individuals and professionals in the field volunteer on Sunday mornings to provide children with a loving and flexible Sunday School experience. Alternatively, if parents would rather have their child paired with an assistant in a typical classroom, we are happy to find a partner for your child.  Please contact Maxwell (MPLS) or Tasha (WEST) to start planning a successful and meaningful learning path for your child.
