Amanda Jenkins, soprano, is a Mount Olivet member and frequent soloist. She has performed locally with The Minnesota Orchestra, Skylark Opera, The Minnesota Opera, Theatre Latté Da, and The Gilbert Sullivan Light Opera Company. Amanda also serves as co-director of the Chancel Choir at the Minneapolis Campus and works as the Assistant to the Director of Worship and Music. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota.

Luke Randall, baritone, recently earned his DMA in vocal performance from the University of Michigan. Born in raised in Minneapolis, Luke is spending this summer teaching at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, MI.

Sarah Weibel and Amanda Nicklaus met in Cathedral Choir at Mount Olivet West. Sarah is studying English at the University of Minnesota, and Amanda graduated from Belmont University with a degree in English. The two enjoy performing together and particularly love making music when they’re at Cathedral of the Pines.

Flutist Julie Johnson performs at numerous venues throughout the Twin Cities and freelances with many orchestras, chamber groups, blues bands, and jazz groups. A finalist for the McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians and a winner of grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board, the American Composers Forum, the Lanesboro Arts Center, the Jerome Foundation, Springboard for the Arts, MacPhail Center for Music, MRAC, and a Banff Centre residency, she plays in many styles, working to bring both the flute and her audiences to music they haven’t been in contact with before. In addition to her active performing schedule, Julie teaches at the Mount Olivet School of Music.

The Barbary Coast Dixieland Band was elected to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2001 and rated among the finest entertainers in the Midwest. The band has played everywhere — from the Mississippi paddlewheel boats and the Minnesota State Fair, to Nagasaki, Japan. Over the past 30+ years they have regularly provided musical ministry in churches involving over 40 Sundays each year. Their mission is to "Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord" and their music provides an uplifting experience for both the musicians and the congregation.

Join us for the 3rd annual Food Truck Sunday! After each service on Sunday, October 7th come out to James Ave where Food Trucks.... will be located! Purchase food off the trucks, enjoy Live Music by Donut Patrol, and Fellowship! Also,will be the Blood Drive Mobile. Do good by giving blood and then enjoy the fun! Invite your friends and neighbors! (Incase of inclement weather join us in the Fellowship Hall after visiting the Food Trucks.)

We invite you to the annual MOCW Holiday Boutique! In addition to specialties from our Circles and the Careview Gift Shop, there will be over 60 local vendors. We will feature our Bistro-style menu with breakfast being served from 9-10 am and lunch from 11-1 pm. Plus we will have a Food Emporium with lots of samples available to try from local food artisans. The Dala House will also be available and is a kids-only shopping experience for kids to shop gifts for their parents and grandparents. All gifts are $5. This event is a major fundraiser for Mount Olivet, proceeds help support the general fund of Mount Olivet. Come get your Christmas Shopping started and know you are giving back to Mount Olivet at the same time!

Candlelight Beginners Yoga: An evening to take care of you hosted by Inspiration Circle, West Campus, will take place Sunday, November 18th from 6:00-7:30pm in the Fellowship Hall at West Campus. The evening will be a blissful 90 minutes of yoga, relaxation and visualization and a great way to get your mind centered. .

Michelle Darsow will be leading us in this practice. Michelle has taught yoga for over 10 years at the Chaska Community Center. She finds teaching yoga very rewarding and loves hearing from people about how they notice more flexibility in their bodies after class. She also loves how many say how they very much needed the reminder to slow down and stay in the present moment! She is hoping to help you find this joy before the holidays set in!

All levels of yoga/fitness welcome.
