Mount Olivet members Christine and Justin Staebell met while pursuing Vocal Performance degrees at Arizona State University. Christine is currently pursuing a PHD in Psychology at St. Mary’s University and Justin is completing a doctoral degree in music at the University of Minnesota. Both sing in the Mount Olivet Senior Choir.

Claire Loudon studied violin performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK. She has performed in festivals and concerts throughout Europe and North America. Passionate about music education, Miss Loudon maintains an active teaching studio and is a violin and viola instructor at the Mount Olivet School of Music. She currently performs with the MN Sinfonia and serves as a substitute violinist with the MN Orchestra. Claire lives in Saint Paul and enjoys collaborating with her musical family which includes a professional cellist and violist.

Plan to join us each Wednesday evening from June 13 - August 1 for an evening of fellowship, great food, enjoyment of nature and inspirational worship. In keeping with our summer worship theme, Life Changing Stories, each week's presiding pastor will share a favorite Bible story and the impact it has had on his or her own life.

This week, Pastor Anna Helgen will lead us in worship, sharing her story "Wonderfully Made." Special music will be provided by Brittany Kallman Arneson. Miriam Jensen will be our organist. Dinner will feature BBQ ribs, Macaroni & Cheese, coleslaw, seasonal vegetable and brown sugar grilled peaches with vanilla bean ice cream. Naturalist Dan Kahl's class will be on "The Great Solar Eclipse Revisited."

4:30 p.m. Buses leave West and 7500 York
5:00 p.m. Bus leaves Minneapolis
5:30-6:30 p.m. Dinner is served
6:30-7:00 p.m. Nature Talk
7:15-8:00 p.m. Worship

Dana Donnay, oboe, is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and also attended the University of Minnesota. She is a freelance musician who plays with many orchestras and ensembles throughout the Midwest and is a member of The Bloomington Civic Theater Orchestra, where she can be found playing flute, oboe, clarinet or saxophone. She teaches at Mount Calvary Academy of Music in Excelsior and Mount Olivet School of Music in Minneapolis.

Cellist Diane Loudon has appeared regularly as an orchestral musician with many professional orchestras around the country. She can be heard performing as a soloist and chamber musician around the Twin Cities and has played for such musical acts as Charlotte Church, Michael Bolton, Aretha Franklin, and Smokey Robinson. An avid pedagogue, Ms. Loudon has maintained a cello studio in the Twin Cities for over fifteen years and is currently a cello instructor at the Mount Olivet School of Music. She also serves as manager and cellist for Rosewood String Ensemble. She holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in cello performance from the University of Illinois - Champaign-Urbana.

Plan to join us August 1 for our final Wednesday evening of fellowship, great food, enjoyment of nature and inspirational worship for 2018. It has been a great summer of learning about the Bible stories that have had significant impact In our Pastors' lives.

This week, Pastor Dennis Johnson will lead us in worship, sharing his story "God at Work in the World and in My Life." Special music will be provided by Brian Ohnsorg with Linda Berger, principal organist at the West campus. Dinner will be our traditional Thanksgiving dinner featuring roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, garlic roasted green beans, cranberry relish and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Naturalist Dan Kahl's last class of the year will be "Edible Vegies in Small Spaces."

Dramatic bass Brian Haase studied music at Northwestern College in Minneapolis and pursued his Master's Degree in Opera Performance at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he performed various lead roles, including the title role in Mozart's Don Giovanni. He has performed several times with the Minnesota Opera, including a supporting role in the Pulitzer Prize winning opera, "Silent Night", and has been a featured oratorio soloist around the United States and Europe.

Martin Luther believed that in contemplating creation we learn much about the nature of God. From the first acts of creation to our new creation in Christ, we discover a continually creating, renewing, and sustaining God--unbound by laws of nature and boundless in love.

Join us Wednesday, July 19 at the Conference & Retreat Center for worship of our Creator God, led by Pastor Bill MacLean. Enjoy an outstanding dinner featuring Grilled Steak Skewers with Chimichurri, Jeweled Cous Cous, Seasonal Vegetables and Amaretto Fruit in the Cloud Dessert. Naturalist Dan Kahl's nature class that evening will explore Animal Architects - master builders in the animal world.
