The Way Mount Olivet establishes a dynamic partnership
with families in the Christian education and faith development of their children. Mount Olivet 5th and 6th graders participate in The Way, a pre-Confirmation
program Sunday mornings, instead of traditional Sunday Church School classes. This is an exciting program for young
people as they graduate from Sunday into Confirmation on their faith journey.
Students in
5th and 6th grades are invited to enhance their faith through educational, service, and fellowship activities. Students
experience the importance of Christian friendships and faith for life. We focus on Jesus' call to serve others. While the students learn about the Bible,
Martin Luther, and other typical Sunday School lessons, the program has several differences: - Our format is unique – Minneapolis classes are started by Geoff Arenson, our
Junior High Director and West classes will be started by Tom Westcott, Luther Seminary student. After a large group
game, quiz show, skit, or devotions, we break into small groups based on our grades.
- We have our own events – 5th graders will have a Bible class and
presentation with their parents in October. 6th graders will have Holy Communion on Sunday, April 29 at 4pm
to mark the beginning of their Confirmation journey.
