God's Plans

When asked to take a Children & Family Ministry position at church, I couldn’t believe the opportunity. I rejected the position at first simply stating, “It wasn’t the right time.” With four kids of my own – two ’tweens and two toddlers – I thought to myself, “There’s no way.” However, my husband encouraged me to go for it. He was telling me, without telling me, that I couldn’t ignore this critical message.
After all, working with kids has been my life’s desire. I feel honored to be in ministry here at Mount Olivet working in what I would consider my true vocation. Working with you and your families this past summer has been a blast! Getting to know the children and families that we serve – your stories, each one of them an intricate thread in the tapestry of Mount Olivet. We are a church unlike any other, built on a foundation that is set early within the hearts and minds of our children. I look forward to a year filled with exciting opportunities and new adventures. Keep coming and keep going God’s way. – HEATHER MELSNESS, CHILDREN &FAMILY MINISTRY TEAM Read More

Why Cherub Choir?

Mount Olivet’s Cherub Choir and Musikgarten classes provide foundational spiritual concepts and Bible stories woven throughout the musical learning. Young children (and all of us!) can easily memorize scripture verses and biblical truths when they are set to music. Children of preschool age begin to make connections as they hear and sing about who they are as a child of God and what it means to follow Jesus. I know my involvement in children’s choir at my small town church was foundational for my faith and continued desire to participate in worship. Read More
