Who
Volunteers? There is no typical Volunteer at M.O.R.A. We offer a variety of opportunities for people of all
ages to make a difference in the lives of our residents. We work with individuals, families, groups and corporations to find
the perfect opportunity to meet their goals, interests and talents.
What positions are available? The staff at M.O.R.A. will work with volunteers to match them with a position that meets their interests and goals. There
are a number of different options available. Many of which involve direct contact with our clients while others offer more
of a behind the scenes, supportive role. Prospective volunteers are encouraged to contact the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss
what opportunities are currently available.
How Much Time is Required? You decide! You can
choose the type of volunteer experience depending on your availability. We have one-time volunteer opportunities, monthly,
seasonal or weekly commitments available.
Why Should I Choose M.O.R.A.?Mount Olivet Rolling
Acres offers volunteers a diverse and flexible program. Volunteers are provided with an initial orientation session and additional
training and support are available along the way. Volunteering with our agency will lead individuals down a road of self discovery
and personal satisfaction. Volunteering with our residents leaves individuals with a unique appreciation for the abilities
of all people. Most of all it is fun!
Where will I be working?M.O.R.A. offers opportunities
at our main campus in Victoria, MN or at one of our community homes located throughout the western metro area.
New
Positions:Community Outing Assistant (Chaska): The folks living at our "Kings Lane"
home in Chaska are interested in having a volunteer join them and the staff for a fun filled community outing. These outings
may include going out to eat, to a movie, swimming or enjoying local events. This position is designed for someone who is
looking to volunteer once or twice a month and is available Saturdays or Sundays.
Friendly Visitor (Waconia):
We are currently looking for a volunteer who is interested in visiting one of our clients who lives independently
in Waconia. This woman is looking for someone to join her in activities such as craft projects, playing with her cat, walks
around town to do some window shopping or heading out to see a movie. Ideally, the volunteer should be available to visit
a minimum of twice a month.
Ongoing Positions:Recreation Partner: Our
recreation department can match volunteers with residents who have similar interests or hobbies. The pair then spends time
together socializing and engaging in a variety of activities on a regular basis. This is a great opportunity for an individual
who is looking to volunteer at least once a month.
Spiritual Companion: To ensure that our residents
have the opportunity to meet their spiritual needs, volunteers are needed to serve as a spiritual companion and bring a resident
along to church services. This position is a great opportunity for families as well as individual volunteers.
Aviary
Assistant: The birds in our aviary would love a volunteer that would be willing to assist with the weekly maintenance
of their home. Duties would include cleaning the aviary windows and floor, and replenishing water and food supplies. The time
commitment would be approximately a half an hour, one day a week.
Special Events Assistant: Special
Events such as dances and theme parties are always a hit with our residents. The Special Events Assistant joins our recreation
department in preparing and facilitating the special events. This volunteer opportunity is available for individuals looking
for either a short term or on-going position.
Special Talent: Volunteers with special skills
in areas such as music, arts and crafts, cooking and sports are encouraged to share their talents with our residents. Specifics
of this volunteer position will be tailored to fit the individual or volunteer group's interests.
Create
your own experience: If you have a unique interest or talent that you would like to share with us that may not be
listed here, let us know. We are very flexible!
