Youth Programs and Ministry - 7th-8th Grade

Mount Olivet Church offers a variety of programs for children and youth of all ages.  If you have questions regarding youth ministry, please contact a member of the youth ministry team or call the church office at 612.926.7651 for additional information regarding programs at either of our campus locations.

Confirmation

Confirmation at Mount Olivet is a two & a half year program beginning with the First Communion/Bible Presentation in the spring of 6th grade. The Confirmation program helps 7th and 8th graders learn more about the Bible, Lutheranism, faith and God while building relationships with their peers, Pastors and Church. During these very important years, studentsare instructed weekly by a Confirmation teacher, the Confirmation Director and Pastors.

Junior High Alive

Junior High Alive is a unique program for 7th and 8th graders to participate in fun and fellowship. JHA leadership team meets regularly to talk about upcoming events and plan new things. JHA activities are held once a month throughout the year, and often coordinate with Confirmation or choir activities. See more

Chancel Choir

A group of 7th and 8th grade singers, who are active in Confirmation, and other junior high activities of Mount Olivet. This choir serves as a unique opportunity for young adolescents to create and build relationships with their peers and their church.  Join anytime!

Glory Bells

Glory Bells is a handbell ensemble experience for 7th and 8th graders. This ensemble is a continuation of Joy Bells but also welcomes new members who have some previous instrumental experience. Rhythmic and musical skills are sharpened and enhanced in this special instrumental group. The ensemble performs in worship services throughout the year and plays an important role in the yearly Christmas Concert.

Junior High Alive Summer Kick-Off Event
We will leave from the West Campus at 10:00 to meet the bus in the Minneapolis Parking lot for check in at 10:30. We will go to mini golf at Veterans and have lunch in the park. We will be back at the Minneapolis Campus lot by 2:00 and the West kids will ride back to the West Campus, arriving at 2:30. Space is limited! Register today!

8th Grade Leadership Retreat
The 8th Grade Leadership Retreat is a special event at the Mount Olivet Conference and Retreat Center for 8th Graders at Mount Olivet that are ENTHUSIASTIC about Church. At this retreat we will have a meaningful devotion service, play games, plan future Junior High service opportunities, swim, and even go to McDonald's!

Valleyfair! Junior High Alive Event
Come and hang out with you Church for one last BLAST OF SUMMER FUN before School starts! This is always a fun day at the park, filled with lots of sweet rides and rollercoasters! This event is open to members and non-members going into 7th or 8th grade. Transportation will be provided from both campuses at 10am and returning by 5pm.
