We welcome back to Mount Olivet the award-winning bluegrass ensemble, Monroe Crossing. Named in honor of Bill Monroe, “The Father of Bluegrass Music,” Monroe Crossing dazzles audiences with an electrifying blend of classic bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, and heartfelt originals. Their airtight harmonies, razor sharp arrangements\, and on-stage rapport make them audience favorites across the United States and Canada. Based in Minnesota, Monroe Crossing is made up of five very distinct personalities with differing musical backgrounds and tastes, combining for a very unique ensemble sound. They are Derek Johnson: guitar\, lead & harmony vocals\; Lisa Fuglie: fiddle, mandolin, lead & harmony vocals\; Matt Thompson: mandolin, fiddle, baritone vocals\; Mark Anderson: bass & bass vocals\; and David Robinson: banjo. Their paths crossed through the music of Bill Monroe so they like to say they had a “Monroe Crossing.” CDs are available for purchase in the Narthex between services. www.monroecrossing.com

Pastors and staff want to thank all Mount Olivet volunteers who have given so generously throughout the year. Join us in the church parking lot at the Mpls campus or outside the front entrance at the West campus for our annual Celebration of Mount Olivet Volunteers. Visit the tables representing your volunteer ministry so we can thank you personally. If you are interested in volunteering, this is the perfect opportunity to visit with a staff person. A special gift for the volunteer, music, and of course mini-donuts!

Baptism is an once-in-a-lifetime sacrament in your child’s faith journey. Jesus said to his followers, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). Baptism is God’s promise to us to wash away our sins. In this one-session, one-hour class with one of our pastors, you will learn more about the promises Baptism holds for your child, the promises you make for your child, and ways to help your children understand themselves as children of God. Sun, March 17, April 21, May 19, 11 am, Room 457, Minneapolis

8:00 am, Lounge, West Campus, at West only June 16, July 21, & August 18. Please register with Mary Lindberg (612-767-2267 or maryl@mtolivet.org) one week prior to class.
