Through a partnership with Pastor Scott's Inner City Ministries and Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP), we will continue our tradition of helping families in need. Students are encouraged to bring their Christmas Share Project gifts to class on Sunday, December 7. These donations allow us to share God's love with our neighbors in need this Christmas season.

2014-2015 Registration
Classes are at 9, 10, or 11 a.m. at Minneapolis and West/Victoria and begin on Rally Sunday, September 7, 2014. Our last day of class will be Sunday, April 19, 2015. Members and non-members are welcome to register throughout the year.  Teacher/classroom assignments will be emailed to families once the registrations are processed. “I am looking forward to my 2nd year in The Way this fall.  I like how we start in a big group then go into smaller groups with just our grade.  I also had a great time on the activities we took (bowling, Grand Slam…).” EmmaBelieving, Belonging, Becoming...
Mount Olivet establishes a dynamic partnership with families in the Christian education and faith development of their children.  Instead of traditional Sunday Church School classes, 5th and 6th graders participate in The Way, a pre-Confirmation program on Sunday mornings. This is an exciting program for young people as they transition from Sunday Church School into Confirmation on their faith journey.

Students in 5th and 6th grades are invited to enhance their faith through educational, service, and fellowship activities. Students experience the importance of Christian friendships and faith for life. We focus on Jesus' call to serve others.

While the students learn about the Bible, Martin Luther, and other typical Sunday School lessons, the program has several differences, including:

  • A unique format on Sunday mornings with large and small groups to build friendships and get to know one another.
  • We have our own events:
    • Fifth graders participate in a Bible Presentation and Dinner with their parents on Reformation Sunday, October 26, 2014.   Please click here to register.
    • Sixth graders participate in Holy Communion in the Spring to mark the beginning of their Confirmation journey.  Details will be emailed from our Confirmation coordinators.
    • Social and service events during the year!  We will announce these events duCard made by a 10 year old student.ring class and via email.  Past events include bowling, volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, and a fun evening at GrandSlam.  Members, visitors, and friends are all welcome to attend these events and  Sunday morning classes.

Special Needs
For families with children with special needs, we offer Sunday Morning Friends at 11am at our Minneapolis campus. Dedicated individuals and professionals in the field volunteer on Sunday mornings to provide children with a loving and flexible Sunday School experience. Alternatively, if parents would rather have their child paired with an assistant in a typical classroom, we are happy to find a partner for your child.  Please contact Jeff or Abby to start planning a successful and meaningful learning path for your child.
