"You all are doing great things with The Way.  [My son] is loving it and simultaneously champing at the bit for confirmation to begin.  Thanks for all of your great work, positive energy, and love for Jesus and these kids!" - parent of a 5th grader

    Classes, Times, and Locations
Classes are at 9, 10, or 11 a.m. at Minneapolis and West/Victoria and began on Rally Sunday, September 13, 2015. Our last day of class is Sunday, April 17, 2016. Members and non-members are welcome to register throughout the year.  We do not have class December 20 or 27, January 3, or on Easter Sunday (March 27).

Teacher/classroom assignments will be emailed to families prior to Sunday (once the registrations are processed).

“I am looking forward to my 2nd year in The Way this fall.  I like how we start in a big group then go into smaller groups with just our grade.  I also had a great time on the activities we took (bowling, Grand Slam…).” EmmaBelieving, Belonging, Becoming...
Photo of two students and pastors.Mount Olivet establishes a dynamic partnership with families in the Christian education and faith development of their children.  Instead of traditional Sunday Church School classes, 5th and 6th graders participate in The Way, a pre-Confirmation program on Sunday mornings. This is an exciting program for young people as they transition from Sunday Church School into Confirmation on their faith journey.

Students in 5th and 6th grades are invited to enhance their faith through educational, service, and fellowship activities. Students experience the importance of Christian friendships and faith for life. We focus on Jesus' call to serve others.

While the students learn about the Bible, Martin Luther, and other typical Sunday School lessons, the program has several differences, including:

    • A unique format on Sunday mornings with large and small groups to build friendships and get to know one another.
    • We have our own events:
      • Fifth graders participated in a Bible Presentation with their parents on Reformation Sunday, October 25 or on Sunday, November 1
      • Sixth graders participate in Holy Communion on Sunday, April 24, 2106, to mark the beginniPhotos of 6th graders at Feed My Starving Children.ng  of their Confirmation journey.  Details will be emailed from our Confirmation coordinators in the Spring:

        WEST Helen Cameron-Zenobian helenz@mtolivet.org 952.767.1502
      • Social and service events during the year!  We will announce these events during class and via email.  Past events include bowling, volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, and a fun evening at GrandSlam.  See the calendar below for upcoming events and to register. Members, visitors, and friends are all welcome to attend these events and  Sunday morning classes.

    Special Needs
For families with children with special needs, we offer Sunday Morning Friends at 11am at our Minneapolis campus. Dedicated individuals and professionals in the field volunteer on Sunday mornings to provide children with a loving and flexible Sunday School experience. Alternatively, if parents would rather have their child paired with an assistant in a typical classroom, we are happy to find a partner for your child.  Please contact Amber (MPLS) or Tasha (WEST) to start planning a successful and meaningful learning path for your child.

    Thursday 9:45 AM
Infants through 3 year olds and their caregivers are invited to join us for a weekly faith-based hour-long class: Babygarten! The program, developed by a children’s librarian and early childhood specialist, focuses on reading, rhyming, and activities to help lay the groundwork for the important skills that babies develop early in their lives. Babygarten is more than a playgroup or storytime and provides pre-literacy skills for children in a faith-focused environment.
All are invited to sample a free class from 9:45-10:45a on Thursday, December 17 or Thursday, January 7.

Amy Porthan, early childhood educator and Minneapolis Nursery coordinator, will guide parents with activities and discussion on how to include God and faith with their child.

    Cost:
$72/6 week session (Thursdays, January 14-February 18 from 9:45-10:45a), includes all materials. Contact: amyp@mtolivet.org or 612.767.2224
