A STUDY OF PSALMS: MAD, GLAD, AND SAD
The always-engaging Dr. Mark Throntveit, Professor of Old Testament,
Luther Seminary, returns for the third of three engagements at our West Campus for this thought-provoking look at the Book
of Psalms. How do mad, sad, and glad Psalms differ? How can we identify them? What makes the Psalms so rich with meaning and
relevant to today? Discover the answers to these questions and more while developing a new appreciation for this very important
and meaningful book in the Bible.
JOSHUA, JUDGES, AND KING DAVID
Our journey continues!
Last session, this Bible study explored the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of their bondage in Egypt and into a
covenant with God at Mt. Sinai. After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, our story continues with Joshua leading the
Israelites' conquest into the Promised Land. Will God keep his covenant with his people? Why is it that the Israelites
want a king? And who exactly does this King David think he is? Join Pastor Eric Youngdahl to tackle these questions and more
in this five-week Crossways study at the West Campus. You easily can participate in and enjoy this study whether or not you
attended the previous sessions.
LIVING WORD BIBLE STUDY: PRAYER
By studying prayers
of the Bible, classic prayers, and our own prayer lives, we will grow together in our understanding of God's invitation
and command to pray. Through this, we also will seek to strengthen our discipline of prayer. The study, which combines small
group discussion with large group instruction, will be led by Mount Olivet Pastor, Kari Bahe.
THE
BIBLE AND MORAL DECISION MAKING
All moral decision-making is based on a number of realities that can be grouped
in the following traditional way (alphabetically arranged): Experience, Reason, Scripture, Tradition. Since we claim as Christians
that Scripture has a very important role in making decisions that we call moral or ethical, in this time together with Sarah
Henrich, Professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary, we will take a closer look at just what that role might be. How does
Scripture accompany and lead us in moral decision-making? We will also think together as Lutheran Christians, paying special
attention to elements of our Lutheran tradition that help us read the Bible for life together in the world.
THE
HOLY SPIRIT: WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT AND WHAT IS ITS ROLE?
Join Dr. Steve Paulson, Professor of Systematic Theology,
Luther Seminary, for this look at basic Lutheran teachings on who the Holy Spirit is and what the Spirit is doing. Lutherans
often are considered to have little to say here, but in fact, this is where Lutherans have their most important teaching-justification
by faith alone. How does the Holy Spirit make faith? What are the fruits of the Spirit? What are the false teachings regarding
"Spirit" that try to take the place of the Gospel? During this two-session class we will listen to the Spirit by
going to Scripture to learn what freedom there is in the true, Holy Spirit who loves to give Christ to sinners.
THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: BASICS OF THE SMALL CATECHISM
Former Mount Olivet pastor, Jim Anderson,
returns for our spring term, this time with an overview of Luther's Small Catechism, and thus, the basics of our Lutheran
doctrine. Join him for this enjoyable exploration of:
The Apostles' Creed, The Lord's Prayer, The Ten
Commandments, Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
WE BRING THIS CHILD
Baptism is a once-in-a-lifetime
sacrament in your child's faith journey. Jesus said to his followers, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). Baptism is God's
promise to us to wash away our sins and deliver us from sin. In this one-session, one-hour class, with Pastor Kurt Kalland,
you will learn more about the promises Baptism holds for your child, the promises you make for your child, and ways to help
your children understand themselves as children of God.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION
Mount
Olivet offers two marriage preparation opportunities. Couples who take both will qualify for a $70 discount when applying

Getting Ready for Marriage
This course, taught by a variety of instructors, will help you get your marriage off to a good start by focusing on
