Mount Olivet provides an ideal setting and expert support for Christian weddings. The beautiful Main Sanctuary and lovely Serley Chapel at our Minneapolis Campus, as well as the Chapel at our West Campus, are designed to accommodate most wedding requirements. The Mount Olivet Pastors and Wedding Director offer special care to each and every wedding couple. We believe that entering into marriage and planning the wedding ceremony deserve the best and most careful preparation.

What days and times are available for a ceremony?
Weddings at the Minneapolis Campus can be performed during the week, Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 10am,
1pm, 4pm and 7pm.

Weddings at the West Campus can be performed during the week, Friday and Saturday.

Weddings may also be held in a more intimate setting at our new location, 1700 Chapel in Minneapolis.  

Who can be married at Mount Olivet?
You can be married at Mount Olivet whether you are a member or a non-member.

May we have our own musicians?
Yes, but the Mount Olivet organist/pianist is required to be at all weddings to assist other musicians or soloists.

As you prepare for your upcoming wedding, we encourage you to prepare also for your marriage by participating in the following options Mount Olivet Lutheran Church offers.

First, all couples being married at Mount Olivet are expected to take online the Prepare Inventory, a 165-statement inventory that will help you build upon your strengths as a couple and identify areas that could be problematic or need enrichment in your relationship. You will arrange to do this with your officiating pastor or Nancy Nelson, our wedding coordinator. In addition, couples are encouraged to participate in one or both of the following marriage preparation opportunities:

Getting Ready for Marriage

This three-session course, taught by Mount Olivet Counseling Center staff and others, will help you get your marriage off to a good start by focusing on communication skills, conflict resolution, financial planning, and spiritual growth. Thurs, April 3, 10 & 24; 7- 9 pm; Room 394-396; $40 per couple; Registration necessary.

Pre-Marriage Workshop

This two-session course with Dr. Gary Wilkerson, Director of Counseling at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, will explore the psychological processes and dynamics that operate within marriage, with a specific look at how personality types interrelate in marriage, based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Tues, April 15 & 22; 6:30- 8 pm; Room 394 – 396; $30 per couple; Registration necessary.

If you complete the Prepare Inventory online and attend all sessions of both Getting Ready for Marriage and the Pre-Marriage Workshop, you will receive a letter that qualifies you for a reduced fee ($90 reduction) when you apply for your marriage license.
