MARRIAGE PREPARATION OPPORTUNITIES

As you prepare for your upcoming wedding, we encourage you to prepare also for your marriage by participating in the following options Mount Olivet Lutheran Church offers.

First, all couples being married at Mount Olivet are expected to take online the Prepare Inventory, a 165-statement inventory that will help you build upon your strengths as a couple and identify areas that could be problematic or need enrichment in your relationship. You will arrange to do this with your officiating pastor or Nancy Nelson, our wedding coordinator. In addition, couples are encouraged to participate in one or both of the following marriage preparation opportunities:

Getting Ready for Marriage

This three-session course, taught by Mount Olivet Counseling Center staff and others, will help you get your marriage off to a good start by focusing on communication skills, conflict resolution, financial planning, and spiritual growth. Thurs, April 3, 10 & 24; 7- 9 pm; Room 394-396; $40 per couple; Registration necessary.

Pre-Marriage Workshop

This two-session course with Dr. Gary Wilkerson, Director of Counseling at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, will explore the psychological processes and dynamics that operate within marriage, with a specific look at how personality types interrelate in marriage, based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Tues, April 15 & 22; 6:30- 8 pm; Room 394 – 396; $30 per couple; Registration necessary.

If you complete the Prepare Inventory online and attend all sessions of both Getting Ready for Marriage and the Pre-Marriage Workshop, you will receive a letter that qualifies you for a reduced fee ($90 reduction) when you apply for your marriage license.

Why not give yourselves the gift of time spent on marriage preparation? To register for either class or both, contact Carol Throntveit (612-767-2246 / carolt@mtolivet.org). After March 16, you also may register online
